Humanity’s Sixth Generation of Fundamental Rights
For two hundred thousand years, observation reliably indicated reality. If you saw someone perform a task, they possessed capability. If you witnessed contribution, causation had occurred.
That correlation ended in 2024.
AI synthesis achieved perfect behavioral replication—the first technological threshold where observation provides zero information about underlying reality. Every signal societies relied upon to verify capability, attribute contribution, and prove causation became perfectly fakeable at zero marginal cost.
This is not incremental change. This is categorical rupture.
When synthesis perfects all observable signals, verification systems collapse structurally and simultaneously. Courts cannot prove causation. Markets cannot attribute value. Institutions cannot verify capability. Individuals cannot demonstrate contribution.
Civilization faces a choice: develop constitutional protections for causal verification, or accept epistemological collapse where coordination becomes impossible.

Why a Sixth Generation
Human rights evolve in response to existential threats previous frameworks cannot address:

Each generation addressed what the previous could not. Causal Rights address what becomes unprovable when all behavior is synthesizable: that you caused anything at all.
Why Constitutional
These cannot be ordinary legislation that parliaments revise or platform policies that companies change.
When you cannot prove causation, you cannot prove you exist as a conscious being. When existence becomes unprovable, every other right becomes unenforceable.
You cannot vote if election officials cannot distinguish citizens from synthetic identities. You cannot own property if courts cannot verify you caused the value you claim. You cannot work if employers cannot distinguish capability from credentials.
Causal Rights are the foundation that makes all previous rights enforceable when behavioral verification fails permanently.
This is why they must be constitutional. Why they must survive any crisis. Why recognition is urgent rather than optional.
